Over the last two years, I have spent time helping to teach beginning keyboard to third, fourth, and fifth graders in a public elementary school in Little Rock, Arkansas. It has been great fun, and the Animal Note method has been well received by both the students, as well as their teacher. I explain basic elementary theory to these classes in the same simple, fun manner that I use in our teaching studio. The teacher asked me to please put these ideas into a book as she felt the students understood the principals much better than with standard methods she normally uses. This book is the result of my efforts to fulfill this request. This wonderful educator, with her advanced degrees in music, was very enthusiastic about the results. The book covers timing in greater depth than in the "Timing" book, value of notes, dynamics, and much more, including scale building.
