Why Teaching Piano is Important

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Your job as a teacher of music is more important today than ever before.  Scientists have shown that training in piano helps develop the right side of the brain, the side of logic and math.  This makes sense as piano is one of the few things that requires the fingers of the left hand to move independently over a variety of keys.  At the same time school budgets are tightening so less music in general is given in many schools, especially in the younger grades; the early development stage of any individual.  This is also the time in a child’s life when the training is most important.

Thank you for visiting piano4kids. I have been teaching piano and music for 39 years. Many years I had 40 students per week, so you see I have been blessed to share the joy of music with lots of children and adults. Now I would like to share with you some of the knowledge and tricks I have acquired over the years. Maybe you will find something that will be helpful to you as you work with your students. Each week I will return to this page to share the adventure in music with you. I hope you will enjoy our times together. I welcome your questions and comments.

See you next week.
